The Charlotte MBA Curriculum

The MBA curriculum consists of 36 graduate credit hours, including a Core component and a Concentration/Elective component. Here’s how that breaks down:

Concentration Courses (12 hours)

After completing the basics, your MBA education becomes a reflection of your professional goals. As you choose your elective courses, think of yourself as a startup: success depends on having a clear idea of where you want to go, and the flexibility and imagination to seize the opportunities along the way.

NOTE: The Business Analytics Concentration is available two ways: Online or on-campus. The Digital Marketing Concentration is only available in the online modality. All other listed Concentrations are for the on-campus MBA program.

Student-Structured

Students may propose a 12 credit hour concentration in a significant area of interest for approval by the Director of the MBA program.  This concentration may include graduate courses from other programs within the University with approval of the MBA Program Director and the related department.

MBA Graduate CErtificates

Earn a valuable academic credential with the Belk College of Business graduate certificates. Our certificates can be applied to a master’s degree at a later date or can be standalone skill builders.

MBA PLUS Post-Master’s Certificate

The MBA PLUS Certificate requires completion of 12 or more credit hours of 6000-level courses. The 12-credit hour elective course requirement of the MBA PLUS corresponds to the 12-credit hour concentrations in the MBA program.

It is expected that most students will use their 12 credit hours or more to gain a concentration in a particular functional area of interest.  However, a broader program that draws from a number of areas may be pursued.

Transfer credits are not accepted in the MBA PLUS Certificate program. 

Business Analytics Certificate

The Graduate Certificate in Business Analytics requires the completion of 12 credit hours of 6000-level courses in business and marketing analytics. Transfer credits are not accepted into the Graduate Certificate in Business Analytics program.

Entrepreneurship and Innovation Certificate

The Graduate Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation requires completion of 12 credit hours (4 courses) of 6000-level courses in entrepreneurship and innovation. Transfer credit is not accepted into the Graduate Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation program.
