Ram Kumar joined the Belk College of Business in 1993. As a Ph.D. student at the University of Maryland, he was the recipient of the Frank T. Paine Award for Academic Merit. He worked for five years in industry prior to obtaining his Ph.D., gaining managerial experience with major multinational corporations such as Fujitsu. Dr. Kumar’s research has been funded by organizations such as the U.S. Department of Commerce and the Maryland Industrial Partnerships scheme and major organizations in the financial services and energy industries. His research has appeared in several leading journals and books. He is an associate editor of the Journal of Database Management. He has lectured to audiences in US, France, India, Taiwan, and Mexico. He is the recipient of research, teaching and service awards from the Belk College of Business.
