The Belk College is kicking off its 50th anniversary by asking for you to share your memories

The Belk College of Business is kicking off a yearlong celebration of its 50th anniversary by asking alumni, students, emeriti, faculty, and staff to share their memories.

Have a faculty member, student or staff member who has inspired you? What are you most proud of and what makes the Belk College most unique? Share your memories and photos of your time at the Belk College through an online form on the Belk College’s 50th anniversary website.

Submissions may be shared on the Belk College’s website and on social media.

The Belk College will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a series of virtual events throughout the 2020-21 academic year.

The college was established on Nov. 13, 1970, with just eight full-time faculty. Over 50 years, more than 33,000 students have graduated to become successful in Charlotte and throughout the world. The college has been a leader throughout the Charlotte region for decades with:

  • First graduate program for working business professionals.
  • First AACSB-accredited business school in the region.
  • First named college at UNC Charlotte.
  • First college or university to offer business courses in Uptown Charlotte.
  • First and only AACSB-accredited Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) in the Carolinas.

Events for the 50th anniversary debut on Sept. 28 with the Dean’s Leadership Series, a new online series presented by  Jennifer Troyer, who became the college's seventh dean this summer. The first session will focus on "Leading on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace."

The new series aims to give back to the Charlotte community by welcoming distinguished guest speakers, executive business practitioners and thought leaders who will share their insights and experiences regarding current challenges and future opportunities facing our business community.
